            The Titanic

The ill-fated Titanic has helped a model maker sail into the record books. Mark Colling built a replica of the cruise liner using 3.5 million matchsticks. The 19ft-long (5.8 meter) model weighs almost a ton. Mark spent up to eight hours a day working on the model. He included hundreds of tiny details such as lifeboats and deckchairs. Mr Colling is now taking the ship to exhibitions and shows. He said: “I love to see people looking at it when it is on display. I have seen people laugh and people cry.”

                  The Eiffel Tower

Alexandr Pashkevich from Ukraine created this model of Eiffel Tower entirely from matches.

This structure made from 7,464 matches stands at 1 meter (3.3 feet) tall.

Lightings are attached to the tower to provide for illumination when in the dark.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
                          by Patrick Acton

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
During the past two and on-half years Matchstick Marvels has taken you on an enchanted trip to J. K. Rowling's world of Harry Potter . Acton will be displaying his matchstick version of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the Matchstick Marvels museum in Gladbrook, IA through 12/06/06. The model is based on Hollywood's version of Hogwarts seen in the Harry Potter blockbuster movies.

Acton's matchstick version of Hogwarts has been sold to an attraction in Spain called "The HOUSE OF KATMANDU". By the time the final building (the Clock Tower buidling) was finished it had taken Acton nearly three years to build, and it contains over a 602,000 matchsticks held together with 15 gallons of carpenter's wood glue. Hogwarts is Acton's largest matchstick model to date.
