Πως θα σου φαινόταν κάποιος να σε έστελνε για έναν χρόνο στην Αγγλία με όλα τα έξοδα πληρωμένα; Κι εσύ να εργαστείς εθελοντικά για καλό σκοπό, βοηθώντας με δημιουργικό τρόπο άτομα με αναπηρία;

Η Α.Μ.Κ.Ε You in Europe σε συνεργασία με τον οργανισμό Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD) της Αγγλίας, προκηρύσσει τώρα 1 θέση Ευρωπαϊκής Εθελοντικής Υπηρεσίας για ένα χρόνο, με βασικά καθήκοντα την ενασχόληση με άτομα με αναπηρία. Ο LCD είναι ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους κοινωφελείς οργανισμούς της Αγγλίας και παρέχει υποστήριξη σε άτομα με αναπηρία τόσο στους χώρους τους όσο και στις δομές του οργανισμού. Ο οργανισμός αναζητά έναν *Έλληνα εθελοντή ηλικίας 18-30 ετών με αναπτυγμένη την αίσθηση της προσφοράς στο κοινωνικό σύνολο, που ενδιαφέρεται με συνέπεια και υπευθυνότητα να συνεργαστεί με άτομα με αναπηρία.

Το πρόγραμμα θα διαρκέσει από τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2016 έως τον Οκτώβριο του 2017, κατά τη διάρκειά του οποίου οι εθελοντές τοποθετούνται σε διάφορες υπηρεσίες σε όλο το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος, οι εθελοντές θα βοηθούν στον σχεδιασμό και την υλοποίηση δραστηριοτήτων του προγράμματος όπως η δημιουργική απασχόληση ΑΜΕΑ, η ψυχαγωγία μέσω επιτραπέζιων και γλωσσικών παιχνιδιών, η συνοδεία και υποστήριξη ΑΜΕΑ στην κοινωνική τους ζωή, μουσική και διαπολιτισμικές δραστηριότητες για ΑΜΕΑ καθώς και διοργάνωση εκδηλώσεων με σχετική θεματολογία.

Μάλιστα, οι εθελοντές ενθαρρύνονται να διαμορφώσουν και οι ίδιοι δημιουργικά την εμπειρία τους εκεί, προτείνοντας και δράσεις και δραστηριότητες, μοιραζόμενοι τις ιδέες τους. Ο γενικός στόχος του προγράμματος είναι οι δραστηριότητες να είναι ποικιλόμορφες και να συμφωνούν με τον σκοπό του οργανισμού να παρέχει στα άτομα με αναπηρία την ευκαιρία να ζήσουν την ζωή τους όπως επιλέξουν, με την στήριξη να ζήσουν ανεξάρτητα.

Για την συμμετοχή στο πρόγραμμα δεν απαιτούνται συγκεκριμένες επαγγελματικές δεξιότητες, όμως προτείνεται οι εθελοντές να έχουν ήδη εμπειρία σε παρόμοιο τομέα ή στην παροχή στήριξης στην προσωπική τους ζωή, ώστε να έχουν μια ρεαλιστική ιδέα για την εργασία με άτομα με αναπηρία. Ο οργανισμός αναζητά εθελοντές με διαφορετικές ικανότητες και γνώσεις, όπωςη μουσική, τα αθλήματα, οι τέχνες, η κηπουρική και πολλά ακόμα, ώστε να προσθέσουν κάτι νέο στις υπηρεσίες του οργανισμού, καθώς και να τις μοιραστούν με τα άτομά του.

Στους εθελοντές προσφέρεται δωρεάν διαμονή και διατροφή, τα αεροπορικά τους εισιτήρια, πλήρης ιατροφαρμακευτική ασφάλιση και καθώς και ένα ποσό κάθε μήνα για τα προσωπικά τους έξοδα, ενώ οι ώρες εθελοντισμού τους δεν θα ξεπερνάνε τις 35 ανά εβδομάδα.

Οι ενδιαφερόμενοι θα πρέπει να στείλουν το βιογραφικό τους καθώς και μια σύντομη συνοδευτική επιστολή στην οποία θα αναφέρουν τους λόγους για τους οποίους θέλουν να συμμετέχουν στο συγκεκριμένο project καθώς και αν έχουν εμπειρία σχετική με άτομα με αναπηρία (οποιασδήποτε μορφής εμπειρία, πχ συγγενικό πρόσωπο) στο email katarzyna.stepien@leonardcheshire.org με κοινοποίηση στο youineurope.evs@gmail.com. About the organization:

Leonard Cheshire Disability is a disability charity that has been operating for 60 years, born out of the life experience and inspiring vision of one man: Leonard Cheshire VC. We employ thousands of people and have thousands of volunteers in the UK who work out of nearly 200 services, and we have five international offices serving over 50 countries around the world.

What we do: • We operate social care services providing support for disabled people in their own home, in facilities we own and run, and in the community. • We use our skills and knowledge to develop and pilot new, innovative, support services for disabled people with help from corporate, private and charity partners. • We campaign to change society’s responses to disability. We want people to think and act differently to make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people

Who are we looking for? This call is opened for young people aged between 18 to 30 years from EU programme and partner countries. We are looking for people that have a genuine interest and passion for working with people with disabilities. There are no professional skills and experience required, however it is recommended that volunteers have an experience in similar sector or providing support in personal life in order to have a realistic idea of working with people with disabilities. As we work with vulnerable adults, the volunteers should be kind, patient and compassionate. We are looking for volunteers with different skills and abilities, such as music, sports, arts and crafts, gardening, etc to bring to our services and encourage them to share those skills and passions with our residents.

Description of Activities: Our volunteers are placed in various services across the UK. They are actively involved in shaping their EVS experiences and we encourage volunteers to bring their own ideas, skills and passions to share with residents throughout their placements. The overall aim of the project is to ensure that our activities programmes are diverse, simulating and in line with our organisational goal of providing people with disability the opportunity to live their lives the way they choose – with the support to live independently. The volunteers will be supporting our activities teams in planning and delivering the activities programme. The volunteers will also be supporting residents and day care users on a one-to-one basis.

Examples of activities: running arts and crafts group, playing board games and language games, music groups, organizing theme evenings, intercultural activities, etc.
organizing and supporting fundraising events
escorting residents in the community, going to the local college, cinema, performance at theatre, local library, etc.

Residents and service users have a wide range of disabilities. This means that it will vary what the individual resident or service user can or cannot do. Residents and service users are very welcoming towards overseas volunteers, and they will do their best to make sure volunteers feel at home in no time.

Practical information:

Travel: Covered travel to and from the service, maximum amount depends on distance to the service from your departure place.
Working hours, holidays Volunteers are required to volunteer for 35 hours per week. These hours will be spread over 5 days and may include weekends. A schedule will be prepared 4 weeks in advance so that you can plan your time off. Volunteers are entitled to 2 days off per month volunteered + bank holidays. During the project accommodation, food, pocket money, online language course will be provided.

Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in their own lockable bedroom, and share a communal lounge, tea kitchen and bathroom with other overseas volunteers. In most cases, the meals will be provided by the service or the volunteers will be reimbursed for their food expenditure as they are responsible for cooking their own food. All bedding, towels and household appliances are supplied. The specific conditions of the accommodation depend on the location. Training and Induction Training courses that will be offered to EVS volunteers to make sure that are able to provide residents and service users with high quality support. As part of the EVS programme, volunteers take also part in the national On Arrival Training and Mid Term Training, organized by British National Agency for EVS volunteers on placements in the UK.
